THIS IS A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.
THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED THIS WEEK ON THE IDAHO/WASHINGTON BORDER (and sadly, this photo is not by Sharon, I am just happy to be able to pass it on)
THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR
CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20K FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

Wow, I've never heard of this. Can this be viewed from anywhere, or is it something like the Northern Lights, only visible in certain areas like Alaska?
I don't know...when I was out in Montana, I got a photo of a cloud with rainbow colors around it that I hope to post to my site, at the time, I knew I was seeing something special but it is nowhere near as brilliant as this..thanks for comments.
