Go Outside and Play!

Go outside and play!” said God.
“I have given you Universes
as fields to run free in!
And here—take this and wrap yourself in it—It’s called:
LOVE
and It will always, always keep you warm.
And stars! The sun and the moon and the stars!
Look upon these often, for they will remind you
of your own light!
And eyes…oh, gaze into the eyes of every Lover.
Gaze into the eyes of every other
for they have given you their Universes
as fields to run free in.
There.
I have given you everything you need.
Now go, go, go outside and play!”

A BIT OF HERSTORY...

During the 1500-1600's, 100,000 Europeans lost their lives from being found guilty of witchcraft. 19 people died in Salem Village, Mass. in the 1690's for the same charges. Bridget Bishop was the first woman in Salem to be put to death for witchcraft...she was the owner of two successful Taverns in Salem, she dressed a bit too flashy for some folks, spoke her mind too openly, and took orders from no one...never performed any magic, didn't even own a cat...but deemed a witch, she was. She proclaimed her innocence till death: "I am no witch, I am innocent, I know nothing of it." 8 days after her trial began she was found guilty and was hanged...18 more would die before the towns people finally came to their senses,Shocked
hysteria lost its fervor, ending the witch hunts and killings...not one of the prouder moments in our his/herstory!Pouty

Round about the cauldron go; In the poison’d entrails throw. Toad, that under cold stone Days and nights hast thirty one Swelter’d venom sleeping got, Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot.

Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron

bubble.

Fillet of a fenny snake, In the cauldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, Lizard’s leg, and howlet’s wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf, Witches’ mummy, maw and gulf Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark, Root of hemlock digg’d i’ the dark, Liver of blaspheming Jew, Gall of goat, and slips of yew Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse, Nose of Turk, and Tartar’s lips, Finger of birth-strangled babe Ditch-deliver’d by a drab, Make the gruel thick and slab: Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron, For the ingredients of our cauldron.
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

CIRCLING ABOVE...

myspace backgrounds images She has given herself a little extra time just in case landing becomes an issue...nothing short of the celebration will get this one on the ground...

TENNESSEE'S FAMOUS WITCH...

and it isn't me!! The Bell Witch, the spirit of Kate Batts believing that she had been cheated in a land deal by John Bell, vowed on her death bed to haunt Mr. Bell and his family. That she did, some blame her for the death of John Bell. She also tormented his favorite daughter, Betsy, but oddly, left the rest of the family alone...many say she continues to visit her home frequently...candlelight in the windows is a sure sign that the Bell Witch is out and about...

OCTOBER BRINGS...

The Hunter's Moon...providing a guiding light for those who have completed the harvest and will now hunt for more winter victuals!! October also brings us the Halloween Moon, which is more appealing to me than the Hunter's Moon. This is a month of scary stories and too much candy...and the arrival of our witch clan...with pockets full of mischief!! myspace layouts

OH HAPPY DAY....

myspace backgrounds images I saw my first eagle in the wild today!!! S/he took to the skies from a tree very close by so we got a wonderful close-up before s/he showed us a few "soaring moves" and flew out of sight. Oct. 13th,a very special day for me, I am grateful.

IRRESISTIBLE EYECATCHER...

The brilliant color of the Cardinal Flower makes it a favorite late blooming wildflower...catching your attention, it brightens up the bank of the creek that is beginning to look a little shabby with no rain. They like filtered sun and moist feet! A favorite of hummingbirds...but poisonous to humanoids!!

SOMETHING DIFFERENT...

Attended Plow Day in the valley, where I found myself in the midst of old farmers, antique tractors and plows, and the even older method of plowing, teams of mules...oh, and lots of dust as they all wanted to display their wares and "turn a little dirt". Here we have the only baby at the show and he wants a kissie!

TAKE SOME TIME...

Native Americans honor all seasonal changes with celebration. Fall is a time of reflection on the passing year. So light a candle, relax in a bubble bath, put on some soft music, whatever relaxes you, and review your year, give Thanks for all the gifts you have received this year, bless your year, give yourself a pat on the back for a year well done, then let it go. Now plant a new seed or two for the coming year. Enjoy the harvest!!!
