the gang's all here...
Mr. Cardinal and his friends, the American Goldfinches all gather to stuff themselves before the snow hits!
and the snow arrives...
seems the Pine Siskins find it a bit slippery!
Looking out over my kingdom...
Go Outside and Play!
“Go outside and play!” said God.
“I have given you Universes
as fields to run free in!
And here—take this and wrap yourself in it—It’s called:
LOVE
and It will always, always keep you warm.
And stars! The sun and the moon and the stars!
Look upon these often, for they will remind you
of your own light!
And eyes…oh, gaze into the eyes of every Lover.
Gaze into the eyes of every other
for they have given you their Universes
as fields to run free in.
There.
I have given you everything you need.
Now go, go, go outside and play!”

SNOW IN THE APPALACHIANS
It's snowing in the mountains today...our first snow of 2009!!!
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
by Robert Frost (1923)
Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping hereTo watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queerTo stop without a farmhouse nearBetween the woods and frozen lakeThe darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shakeTo ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweepOf easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep.

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE...
Monday, Jan. 19th has been dubbed a day of national service. In support of one another and our country, please find a way to be in service to others on that day and many days to follow. Thank you.
Locally there will be a food drive held at K Mart on behalf of the Bread of Life Mission. Please help out if you can.

2009...THE YEAR OF...
the OWL...the Barred/Hoot Owl. 2009 so dubbed due to the sighting of a Barred Owl on January 2nd. My first sighting of this species. She had taken a position on a fencepost late in the afternoon, on an overcast day. Barred owls often start hunting before dark..."Early bird gets the worm" so to speak!! We welcome her to the community, hope her stay is long and healthy.

FOR YOUR PRAYER LIST...
May you rest in peace, Jett.
As special prayers and blessings go out to the Travolta family, let's say a special prayer for every family that is grieving for a child. May God Bless them all.And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

THERE IS A TIME...
Do you think you can take over the universe and improve it?
I do not believe it can be done.
Everything under heaven is a sacred vessel
and cannot be controlled.
Trying to control leads to ruin.
trying to grasp, we lose.
Allow you life to unfold naturally.
Know that it too is a vessel of perfection.
Just as you breathe in and breathe out,
there is a time for being ahead
and a time for being behind;
a time for being in motion
and a time for being at rest;
a time for being vigorous
and a time for being exhausted;
a time for being safe
and a time for being in danger.
To the sage
all of life is a movement toward perfection,
so what need has he
for the excessive, the extravagant, or the extreme.

THE DAWNING OF A NEW YEAR...
What is the look of your New Year? How will you contribute to the ever-growing needs of your fellowman? What will you do to enhance the lives of those around you? How will you treat yourself this year? As we spend some time hibernating and renewing ourselves for the coming Spring, give some thought to the past year, then let it go and see yourself as the person you strive to be as we all continue to work toward that goal. God Bless you all in this coming year and may it be filled with blessings and miracles! Thanks for supporting me and my blog, you are all great and valued friends. Hope you can stop in often in 2009. Warm and loving Greetings to you all. Your host, Sharon
