It's snowing in the mountains today...our first snow of 2009!!!

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.His house is in the village though;He will not see me stopping hereTo watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queerTo stop without a farmhouse nearBetween the woods and frozen lakeThe darkest evening of the year.

2009...THE YEAR OF...

the OWL...the Barred/Hoot Owl. 2009 so dubbed due to the sighting of a Barred Owl on January 2nd. My first sighting of this species. She had taken a position on a fencepost late in the afternoon, on an overcast day. Barred owls often start hunting before dark..."Early bird gets the worm" so to speak!! We welcome her to the community, hope her stay is long and healthy.

THE DAWNING OF A NEW YEAR...

What is the look of your New Year? How will you contribute to the ever-growing needs of your fellowman? What will you do to enhance the lives of those around you? How will you treat yourself this year? As we spend some time hibernating and renewing ourselves for the coming Spring, give some thought to the past year, then let it go and see yourself as the person you strive to be as we all continue to work toward that goal.
